Gurgaon 2 Indore in 15 hours

Anurag just after completing his 15 hour long ride from Gurgaon 2 Indore

Anurag Bisht - The Vertical Outlaw - started from Gurgaon today morning just before 5 o'clock. It was cold and chilly and, even before he could reach Mathura, his fingers had frozen inside the gloves. He had to take shelter in a roadside dhaba whose owner lit up fire wood for warming up his hands. He halted there for about half an hour as he was finding it extremely difficult to ride in the extreme chill. His plans of scoring flamboyantly in the early overs had gone haywire.

After resuming his bike ride, he crossed Agra, Dholpur and Morena smoothly. He heaved a sigh of relief after having crossed the ravines of Chambal safely by the grace of God. While passing through Gwalior town, he found himself right in the midst of the sabzi mandi where potatoes were selling at Rs 15/-per kg. He emerged out of the city, feeling like a free bird in the bright sunshine but his joy was short lived. Ahead was a 30 km long traffic jam extending up to Shivpuri. The Datia-Shivpuri belt is also notorious for kidnapping for ransom. He had a khatarnaak spicy lunch there and continued the bike ride, by now feeling slightly lethargic after a good lunch.

Fatigue naturally sets in after such a long ride. He had a slight side brush with another biker at a check post but it was minor. Just beyond that, he got down the road on the wrong side trying to avoid a small pothole. Realizing that he was loosing concentration, he stopped for a tea break. The ride thereafter was just fine with hope of shore showing up soon. After reaching Dewas, he felt anxious to reach home fast.

Back home Papa and Mummy were strolling anxiously in anticipation. They could hardly wait for him to get down from the bike before hugging him like mad, mummy's eyes filled with sweet tears! Inside a plum cake and steaming hot ginger tea provided just the right atmosphere for him to boast about the just accomplished conquest. The joy of biking an arduous distance of 855.3 kms in 15 hours safely did not allow the fatigue to surface anywhere. This ride will remain etched in his memory for long.
